PATRONS

Sri D C Pathak, IPS, Former Director, IB, is the Patron of the CCSS and a founder member. He also served as the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and a member of the National Security Advisory Board. He has extensively travelled abroad and has authored four books on intelligence and security issues, which were well received in both professional and academic circles. He writes regularly on matters of strategic interest.

Sri Rajesh Kumar Srivastava is the Pro-Vice Chairman of DPS Bhagalpur, DPS Greater Ranchi, Chairman of VB College Education and Secretary of the Angika Development Society. He regularly organises training modules for students on national and cyber security issues. He had earlier worked as a Senior Vice President at Reliance Industries and Director of Marketing at GE Spacenet BV. He has rich experience in international and domestic relations, Business development, IT & Telecom and the education sector. He was the main motivator for establishing the Chanakya Centre for Strategic Studies. 

Lt Gen Kamal Davar PVSM, AVSM (Retd) is one of India’s distinguished soldiers and military thinkers. He was wounded in action in the 1965 operations and had also participated in the 1971 war. He commanded the Ladakh Division, was Chief of Staff of a Corps HQ in Kashmir. Later, he was a Corps Commander responsible for the defence of Punjab, after a short stint as DG Mechanised Forces. After the Kargil war, he was appointed the first Chief of Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff. He is a prolific writer and is called upon by various institutions, both at home and abroad, to address them on strategic and security issues.  

Admiral P Kaushiva UYSM, VSM, Former Commandant, National Defence College and Director, National Maritime Foundation, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. He is a prolific writer and contributes articles on strategic affairs and maritime security issues in various newspapers and journals. 



Smt. Purnima Gupta IES, Former Economic Advisor to the Govt. of India. She is an eminent economist. She has vast experience and served in different departments-  Human Resource Development, Tariff Commission, Central Electricity Authority and the Planning Commission. She retired from the Indian Economic Service after more than 35 years of service. She has participated in several international seminars and conferences. She was a special invitee at the workshop organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. She is a prolific writer and has contributed papers to several journals.  




Sri Sunil Lal, IFS, Former India's Ambassador to Spain and Brazil. Sunil Lal served at Indian Missions in Havana, Berlin, Ankara, and Washington. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi, he worked in the External Advertising, UN, and Public Diplomacy divisions. He was also assigned to the Defence Staff College in Wellington (1988-1989), Georgetown University (1999-2000), and the National Security Council as Joint Secretary (2004-2006).  



Sri K K Mital IAS, Former Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Assam. He served in several important positions in the Ministries of Culture, Labour and Home Affairs and the National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India. He was the Nodal Officer for the K.C Pant Committee, which prepared the blueprint for the National Security Council. He served as Director General of Employment and Training at the Ministry of Labour and Employment, where he significantly advanced skill development through new programs and schemes.  


Sri Sandeep Nayak IAS, Former Secretary to the Govt. of India. He served in several important positions in the Ministries of Commerce & Industries, Agriculture, Mines, Health & Family Welfare and the National Security Council Secretariat.  He was also Senior Deputy Director, LBSNAA, Mussoorie.  His educational qualifications include M.Sc. from IIT Kharagpur, M.Sc. London School of Economics and Political Science and M.A. in International Policy from Monterey Institute of International Studies, California. He is currently a Member of the Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal and a Member of the Senate, IIT Goa.    

Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Professor and Head, Department of National Security and Defence Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has authored several books on defence and security issues and regularly contributes articles to various journals and newspapers. 



 

Group Captain Rajesh Mohan, Former Director, National Security Council Secretariat, Govt. of India. He is a fighter pilot and took part in the Indo-Pak War of 1971. He also served on the Kargil Review Committee.   



  

Sri Kapil Kaul, Former Dy. Director, National Security Council Secretariat, Govt. of India.  He is a researcher and writer on international security issues, including military capabilities, arms transfers and weapons development. The focus of his research and specialisation is political and security issues in the Middle East, Iran, Pakistan and Kashmir. He has several publications to his credit. He had earlier served as the Assistant Editor of Vayu Aerospace Review and as a Researcher at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis. 

Trustees

Dr Satyendra Dev Pradhan is the former Deputy National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee. He was the Chairman of the Task Force on Intelligence Apparatus (2008-2010), which reviewed the functioning of all the intelligence agencies in India. He has written two books on World War I. He contributed several chapters to the official history of the 1971 Indo-Pak War and the Role of the Indian Army in the Counterinsurgency Operations. He regularly writes on strategic and intelligence issues in the Chankaya Code of the Times of India.  


Shri HS Bawa is the Deputy Director General of the Chanakya Centre for Strategic Studies and the Member Secretary of the CCSS Editorial Board. He is a former Director of the National Security Council Secretariat. He had assisted the Group of Ministers in preparing their report on “Reforming the National Security System”. Earlier, he had occupied several important positions in the Indian Navy. 




Management Associate

Sri G.K.Nagar is the organisation’s Management Associate. He is a former civil servant who has held several important positions in India and abroad. He takes a keen interest in security matters. He makes a significant contribution to the functioning of the CCSS.
